Indiana Needs Your Help Now!

Established in 2006, IAOA exists as a central organizational point for animal owners who wish to preserve their rights of animal ownership in the state of Indiana. Right now, throughout the United States, there exists a multi-million dollar animal rights lobbying effort that attempts each day to make greater strides toward stripping responsible animal owners of their rights of ownership and animal usage. Our goal is to prevent such groups from forcing their radical agendas into law in the state of Indiana. We hope you'll join us in our own efforts to protect our animals!

On Tuesday, March 31, The Indiana House Judiciary Committee vote 8-0 to pass SB 238 out of committee. Click here to read the amended version of SB 238.

Also, on March 31, the Indiana Senate Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Matters Committee voted 8-0 to pass HB 1468 out of committee. This bill passed out of committee only after having been stripped of many of the harmful amendments that were originally present when first read, and we applaud the members of this Committeee for their dedication, commitment, and leadership in the legislative process.

The AKC (American Kennel Club) opposes all legislation that imposes limits on ownership or breeding. Additionally, the AKC encourages grass-roots efforts on behalf of purebred dog owners in battling radical anti-animal legislation. The AKC does not officially authorize any particular group or individuals to speak on their behalf on a state-by-state basis.
"Bottom line, Indiana, nor any other state, needs to be writing legislation that impedes commerce. The marketplace will weed out these people and the civil courts are there for this reason. We need government to stay out of our businesses, our pocketbooks, and our bedrooms."

Effective and enforceable animal laws strike a reasonable balance between protecting the welfare of animals and the privacy of citizens who keep animals in their homes

What is needed is greater enforcement of existing cruelty and nuisance laws to crack down on those who disobey the law, not more regulation for law-abiding citizens
